Welcome to our clubs web site. It is my pleasure to serve
as Director of the Spirit of St. Louis Region of the Classic Car Club of America.
We are the premier car club in the St. Louis region.
Our region is centered in St. Louis and includes the eastern half of Missouri and the South Western portion of Illinois. However,
we have members from all over the nation. Many people join our region just to receive our award winning publications. We publish
a high quality glossy magazine (The Spirit) on a bi-annual basis. Our newsletter, (The Spark Plug) is published
every other month. We also publish a nice wall calendar. The calendar features a different classic each month and contains
action photos of club activities that occurred the previous year. Samples of our publications may be viewed on our web page.
We have more than 100 members & associates and continue
to grow. We are a very active club. We average two activities per month throughout the year. Each year we try to come up with
new and exciting ideas. Last year we provided Classic’s at the annual Wheels in Motion Show which benefits the National
Children`s Cancer Society.
Another new idea we introduced this past year is the
Kid`s CARd Club. This is a project designed to attract young families to our activities. The Club features baseball type trading
cards with photos and details on our cars. Kids collect the cards; attend workshops on a variety of topics ranging from car
photography to car judging. The National Museum of Transportation, located in St. Louis, has embraced the kids club which
has now extended this exciting activity to 16 car clubs that have shows similar to the Classic Show we hold each year at the
museum. The Kid`s CARd Club has its own web site which is linked to this site. Be sure to take a look at the cars that are
available for kids to collect. Also look at the photos the kids took at our Classic Show.
If you are not a member of the Spirit of St. Louis Classic
Car Club of America, I invite you to review our publications, and if you live in the region, to attend some of our activities
and experience ride in one of our cars. You do not have to own a classic to be a member. Also, as I mentioned previously,
you do not have to live in our immediate region. All we ask is that you have an appreciation for and an interest in the finest
automobiles in the world that were built during the classic era (1925-1948).
Happy Motoring,
Don Hoelscher
Regional Director
